James and Lola Faust Chamber Music Scholarship

DESCRIPTION
A maximum of $5,000 to a chamber ensemble with at least one or two members of Mu Phi Epsilon (depending on size of ensemble). The chamber ensemble must be able to demonstrate a performance history of at least two years. The chamber ensemble must compete at the level of its most advanced member.

Rules:

  • Ensemble shall consist of 2-10 players
  • Ensemble shall have no separate conductor
  • Ensembles with 2-4 members must have at least one Fraternity member
  • Ensembles with 5-10 members must have at least two Fraternity members

REQUIREMENTS
Required Materials Checklist:

  1. Current resume, including Mu Phi Epsilon participation
  2. Two current letters of recommendation
  3. Most recent unofficial college transcript
  4. Detailed project proposal (250-500 words) that includes a description of chamber ensemble performance history 
  5. A statement of financial need
  6. A highly detailed budget
  7. A high-quality recording 30-45 minutes in length, including a work written within the last twenty years and contrasting works from different stylistic periods to fulfill the time requirement. Submission via links to YouTube preferred (or other comparable sites, no Dropbox). Recordings in the Scholarship Application process must not be older than two years from the date of application.
  8. Copy of the score to the contemporary work, if unpublished
  9. List of the recorded repertoire with the following information:
    1. Exact titles, opus numbers
    2. Composers’ names
    3. Timings
  10. Recent programs and/or  reviews
  11. $25 Application Fee
